The Story
Jameson’s first EP, Reminders was recorded over several days in his basement with the help of many talented friends. A total passion project, Reminders is a collection of songs for the hard days. In moments of despair or dismay, these songs aim to acknowledge the pain and the struggle, but turn you to hope. The simple prayer of the opening track Remind Me kicks things off with a soul-centering ballad, and you’re led from there as you wrestle with tunes about everything from dealing with the reality of your child’s fallen nature to the cry of the very fabric of your being for the Lord to return.
It’s reflective, it’s poetic, and it’s heartfelt. I hope you enjoy it!
Lyrics
Remind Me
I am a man who’s seen your mercy
I am a man who’s knelt
Before the God of love and comfort
My ever-present help
I am a man who’s seen your blessing, and
Received what’s not deserved;
The gift of life, and joy, and freedom
The lifting of my curse
So when I find myself forgetting
That you have righted wrongs,
And I’m secure in you forever,
Remind me of this song
Little Eyes
You showed up here so near to innocent
It wasn’t long before that changed
Your fallen heart responds the moment when
The fallen world calls out your name
So be careful, little eyes, what you see
So be careful, little eyes, what you see
For the Father up above
He is looking down in love
So be careful, little eyes, what you see
You know this world, it sings a broken song
Of twisted words and melodies
And you may think that it sounds beautiful
But their whole song is out of key
So be careful, little ears, what you hear
Be careful, little ears, what you hear
For the Father up above
He is looking down in love
Be careful, little ears, what you hear
Sometimes falling looks like fun
Sometimes feet just want to run
What you need to do is stand for truth
And when you can’t stand I’ll stand with you
Just be careful, little eyes
Please be careful, little eyes
Do take care, you little eyes
What you see.
Where I Belong
If you’re the bread, I’m the beggar
If you’re the sun, I’m the winter
Good God, it’s cold if you ain’t near
You’re like the rainfall in the desert
Every drop of you, a treasure
Good God, I’m dry if you ain’t near
Oh my soul has found it’s home
The only place where I belong
Where I belong
Where I belong
Where I belong
You’re like the stars in the night sky
Giving light to all who wander
Good God, I’m lost if you ain’t near
If you’re the sea, I’ll be a sailor
Leave this shore, pull up my anchor
And float forever on your waves
Oh my soul has found it’s home
The only place where I belong
Where I belong
Where I belong
Where I belong
I am right where I belong
Where I belong
Where I belong
I am right where I…
I am looking back across the distance
I remember all you’ve done
Every stormy night you kept me
‘Till the breaking morning sun
And all those days, once filled with longing
Are just memories of what was
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, I am right where I belong
Where I belong
Where I belong
I am right where I belong
Where I belong
Where I belong
I am right where I belong
Whispered Words
There are words
Hanging there
Ready to leap from your tongue
And be kissed by the air
Whispered words
In the dark
Hoping to never be heard
But felt by your heart
And you are speaking them
To the mirror alone in your home
When there’s nobody there
Yeah you are holding them
And the longer you wait
Well the nearer you come to your end
Speak the words
Call them out
For silence and fear will draw near
To the dreadfully proud
Find your song
Sing it loud
For weakness, when spoken,
Finds strength coming down on the clouds
And you are not alone
Your burdens are borne by your King
Who now sits on His throne
Yeah you are free from that
So live like it, kid,
You will never be snatched from His hand
Whispered words
Creep back in
A dissident doubt,
And it’s wearing a sinister grin
But nothing has changed
Nothing is new
You may doubt, but don’t fear,
For your Saviour defeated this, too.
Let It Be
In the moments between each beat
My heart will stop to see
‘Would a chest that were void of me
Continue to beat?’
In the moments between each breath
My lungs will ask themselves,
‘Would a chest we denied our help
Still get on well?’
Lord you know this flesh is weak
Hear my soul groan inwardly
Longing to be clothed with the
Heavenly
There’s a cry heard from peak to peak,
On each hill and in each valley
Every star stands to shout and sing
Your glory
And we anxiously wait to see
Your return as the king of kings
All creation will be redeemed
Oh Lord, Lord let it be!
On that day my flesh will fail
No more tales of trials to tell
No more shall my heart rebel
But in peace I will dwell
There will be an end to strife
The mortal swallowed up by life
And we will stand in paradise
Glorified
And at last my heart shall sing
Eternal praises of our King
But until then…
On that day my heart shall sing
Eternal praises of our King
Until then my soul’s longing
Is “Lord, let it be!”
Oh Lord, let it be.
